Juba, Oct. 24 (SUNA) - Acting Chairman of the Council of the States, Rimi Oleir, announced that formation of the Elections Commission will take place shortly. In a joint press conference of the Council of the States and South Sudan Legislative Assembly Friday in Juba, Oleir stressed the importance of establishing the Election Commission on fair basis, and that its members shall dispose from their political affiliations and act in freedom and honestly. He said that the Election Act stipulates that the nomination for the Election Commission shall be 60 days before the starting of the elections. Oleir stressed that commitment to the Election Act and fairness and honesty of the Election Commission will lead to success of the elections. MO/MO
Khartoum, Oct. 24 (SUNA)- The African Women Forum for Solidarity with Sudan, held during October 20 - 22, has issued Khartoum Declaration of African Women which stipulated the necessity of respect to Sudan sovereignty and unity and support to the Sudanese people. The forum was held through an initiative of the African Women Organization for Economic Capacity Building and Leadership in collaboration with the Sudanese Women General Union. The Khartoum Declaration issued by the forum affirmed the importance of achieving peace and stability in Darfur, Sudan and all over Africa. A delegation of the African Women Organization for Economic Capacity Building and Leadership Friday morning held a press conference at the Centre of Sudanese Women Activities (MAMA) at which the forum's Khartoum Declaration was announced. The forum called for the unity of the African women to confront the challenges facing the continent. The Secretary General of the Sudanese Women General Union, Ustaza Rajaa Hassan Khalifa, said that the forum affirmed the importance of adherence to the International Law and customs with regard to respect of the immunity of the heads of state. Chairwoman of the African Women Organization for Economic Capacity Building and Leadership, Dr. Basira Nahidi, said that the organization will cooperate with all the African countries toward normalization of the relations between Sudan and Chad. She appreciated the African, Arab and United Nations efforts for solution of disputes in African countries. MO/MO
Istanbul, Oct.24(SUNA)-Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Trade Nagat Hassan Salih hopes that the trade protocols between Sudan and Turkey would give preferential advantage to Sudanese exports. She uncovered that the trade balance between the two countries is in favor of Turkey, saying while the annual Sudanese exports to Turkey is around 10-20 million euros , its imports from Turkey is about 200 million dollars. The Ministry Undersecretary attributed the imbalance to Sudan's dependence on exports of traditional goods and exports of capital goods from Turkey. She affirmed to SUNA at the sideline of the international trade fair in Istanbul the importance of adopting production for exports policy, saying the trade fairs are vital for strengthening bilateral relations as well as for increasing of volumes of trade between the countries. Khartoum,Oct.24 (SUNA)-The Director-General For Sub-Saharan Africa in the Japanese Foreign Ministry and the Personal Representative of the Japanese Prime Minister for Sub-Saharan African Affairs is to visit Sudan during 27-29 of the current October. The Japanese official is to hold dialogue with Sudanese officials focusing on political issues and bilateral relations. It is worth mentioning that the dialogue between the two countries ceased in 2003 and it was agreed to to resume it during the visit of the Assistant of President of the Republic Dr. Nafie Ali Nafie to Japan last march. Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Dr. Mutrif Sidiq is to preside over the Sudanese side in dialogue with the Japanese delegation.. The visit programs also include meetings with the Assistant of President of the Republic Dr. Nafie Ali Nafie and State Minister at Foreign Ministry Ali Kerti. AS/AS
Khartoum,Oct.24(SUNA)-The Minister of Financial and National Economy, Dr. Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz, discussed with the Deputy Chairman of the Chinese Company of C.P.P.C pogresss of the investment cooperation between Sudan and China. Dr. Al-Jaz appreciated the progressing relations between Sudan and China in all domains, especially in the oil field, affirming that all support and facilities will be provided for the Chinese company so as to expand its investments and oil exploration in Sudan in cooperation with Ministry of Energy and Mining. The Deputy Chairman of the Chinese Company, on his part, disclosed that the company is working to increasing the oil production in blocks (1) and (2) and other fields, expressing the company's desire to expand its investments in Sudan. Khartoum, Oct. 17 (SUNA) - The Chairperson of the African Union Commission Dr Jean Ping said all the peace initiatives and efforts would not lead to tangible outcomes without effective involvement of all the Sudanese parties, affirming that comprehensive and lasting peace would only be achieved by virtue of the determination of the people of Sudan. Addressing the opening session of the Initiative of the People of Sudan for solving Darfur problem at the Friendship Hall Thursday, Dr. Ping urged the people of Sudan to stick to the spirit of reconciliation and to be on the right track for solving the issue of Darfur. He further called on the people of Darfur and the civil society and the observers to collaborate in implementing the outcomes of this very important initiative of the people of Sudan. In this line, the Chairman of the AU Commission affirmed that the AU is working to assist the Sudanese people in their efforts to achieve a lasting peace in the Sudan. MF/MF
Kenana, Oct. 17 (SUNA) - President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, renewed a call to the political forces to join the forum of People of Sudan for solving Darfur problem, expressing hope that it comes out with useful options to solve the issue of Darfur. Speaking at the procedural session of the Initiative of People of Sudan for solving the problem of Darfur in Kenana Thursday night, President Al-Bashir affirmed that there was no ready-made document for the participants to approve, saying that such document will be drafted as a result of the constructive deliberations of the participants and the people of Sudan. The President explained that the forum aims at returning back the hijacked issue of Darfur to Sudan to be solved by the Sudanese people themselves because they are suffering from the continuation of war in Darfur. Meanwhile, President Al-Bashir announced the formation of a Presidential panel from the former Presidents and Prime Ministers, namely Field Marshal Abdul Rahman Suwaraldahab, Ahmed Al-Mirghani, Al-Saddiq Al-Mahadi and Dr. El-Gizoli Daffallah, besides the two Vice Presidents and some Advisers to the Presidents, Senior Assistant of the President Meni Arko Menawi and Assista to the President Dr. Nafie Ali Nafie as some personalities from Darfur States to preside the sessions of the forum. This panel would be completed by election of Chairpersons of subcommittees of the forum which will be concluded on Sunday. The President proposed selection of Prof. Al-Tayeb Haj Attia, Chairman of the Peace Research Institute of University of Khartoum, as a Rapporteur of the Forum. The participants have unanimously approved the President's proposal. The President has renewed the hope that all the arms holders in Darfur join the forum in a view that the Government has pledged to secure participation of their representatives in the forum as well as their return to their places after the forum in order to respond positively to the Initiative of the people of Sudan as well as the good spirit which prevailed the forum's opening session in Khartoum. President Al-Bashir further affirmed support to the Arab-African initiative for peace in Darfur m chaired by the State of Qatar. Meanwhile, Minister of Industry, Dr. Jalal Yusof Al-Degair, addressed the session on behalf of the workers in Kenana Sugar Factory, revealing that Kenana is preparing to construct sugar factories in Darfur States in the near future, saying that the people of Sudan are eager to reap the fruits of the forum for solving the problem of Darfur. Khartoum, Oct. 16 (SUNA)- Senior Assistant of the President of the Republic and Chairman of the Transitional Darfur Regional Authority (TDRA), Meni Arko Menawi has expressed welcome to the Initiative of the People of Sudan, Arab Initiative as well as all initiatives aimed at solving the issue of Darfur. Menawi, addressing the opening session of the Initiative of the People of Sudan at the Friendship Hall in Khartoum Thursday, affirmed the necessity of commitment to the implementation of Abuja agreement as a good basis solution of the problem, indicating that it included gains and the rights of the people of Darfur and the compensations of the affected citizens. He pointed out that if Abuja Agreement implemented, it would be a factor of attraction to the people of Darfur and will realize peace and stability in the region. Menawi attributed his staying in Darfur during the last period to the difficulties that faced the implementation of the agreement. He said an agreement was reached with the government to work out a road map to find the right solution of the problem, explaining the efforts he exerted with the armed movements to join the peace process. Khartoum, Oct. 16 (SUNA)- Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmed Abulghait has affirmed Egypt's support to the peace process and stability in Sudan. The Egyptian support is stemming from unshaking stands backed by the whole Egyptians, he said. Addressing the opening session of the Initiative of the People of Sudan for solving Darfur problem at the Friendship Hall in Khartoum Thursday, Abulghait said the Sudanese people and Darfur citizens in particular look forward to arriving at national accord and solution of the problem. Khartoum, Oct. 16 (SUNA) - First Vice President of the Republic and President of the Government of Southern Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit has affirmed support of Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) to the Initiative of the People of Sudan for solving Darfur problem. Addressing the inaugural session of the Forum of the People of Sudan at the Friendship Hall in Khartoum Thursday, Salva Kiir described the initiative as a great initiative that comes a critical historical stage the country is passing, hoping that it would be a real addition to peace in Sudan. Salva Kiir called for cease-fire in Darfur to create favourable atmosphere for the negotiations, urging participants to address the root causes of the problem in transparency to come out with recommendations that contribute to solution of the problem and reaching comprehensive peace all over Sudan. He urged unification of the Initiative of the People of Sudan and the Arab initiative and participation of the neighbouring countries, AU and UN in reaching the comprehensive solution. BT/BT
Khartoum, Oct. 11 (SUNA)- The Minister of Science and Technology, Prof. Ibrahim Ahmed Omer, and the Minister of Agriculture and Forests, Prof. Al-Zubair Bashir Taha, returned home Saturday from Tokyo, where they participated in the forum of the African ministers of science and technology, which was organized by the Japanese Ministry of Science. The Minister of Science and Technology pointed out in a statement to Sudan News Agency (SUNA) at Khartoum Airport that the forum aimed at reviewing field of cooperation between Japan and the African countries in the scientific and technological fields. Prof. Omer said that he had presented during direct meetings with the Japanese institutions proposals on cooperation between the Japanese institutions and the scientific and technological research centres in Sudan and means of reactivation of cooperation agreements signed between the two countries in this connection. Khartoum, Oct. 11 (SUNA) - President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir has affirmed his full support to the Arab initiative for solving Darfur issue. This came when the President received at the Guest House Saturday night the delegation of the steering committee of the initiative, led by the Qatari State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ahmed ibn Abdalla Al-Mahmoud. The Qatari minister pointed out in a press statement that they explained during the meeting the objectives of the visit and its outcome and that they handed over to the President a copy of the Arab initiative for solving Darfur problem. Khartoum, Oct. 11 (SUNA) -The Minister of the Presidency, Gen. Bakri Hassan Salih, has announced that the Forum of the People of Sudan for boosting the peaceful solution for Darfur issue will be launched next Thursday at the Friendship Hall in Khartoum. The opening session will be addressed by the President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir. All Political forces and civil society organizations are participating in the event, said Salih in a statement to SUNA. The deliberations will proceed in Kenana town. President Al-Bashir launched the People of Sudan Initiative in his address on the occasion of the 19th anniversary of the National Salvation Revolution. The initiative has found wide welcome from all the political forces and the civil society organizations. AH/BT
Khartoum, Oct. 11 (SUNA) - President of the Republic Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir will address Monday the opening setting of the National Legislature in its 7th session. The Speaker of the National Legislature Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Tahir will also address the setting. SUNA learnt that the setting of the National Assembly on Tuesday includes the approval of the Council of the Political Parties Affairs. The Assembly on Wednesday will deliberate on the President's statement on the general plans and policies of the state for 2009. MF/ BT

Dubious deals: The gang members arrested by the Task Force Central Zone team in connection with fake certificate racket, in Hyderabad on Thursday. —
HYDERABAD: The city police on Thursday busted a fake educational certificates racket with the arrest of eight persons, including two Sudan nationals.
As many as 350 educational certificates of different universities in country were seized from the gang. Several foreign students, especially from East African countries like Sudan, Ethiopia, Yemen and Somalia, obtained duplicate certificates for Rs.10,000 to Rs.70,000.
The arrested Mohammed Tousif, Mohammed Sameer Ahmed and Mohammed Mujtab, all residents of Mehdipatnam, Khaja Fayeeq Ali of Santoshnagar, Syed Lateef Ali and Mirza Farhatulla Baig, both residents of Bandlaguda, and Sabri and Abedl Moniem from Sudan were committing the offence for the last two years, V. B. Kamalasan Reddy, Task Force DCP, said at a press conference here.
He explained Sabri used to help foreign students in getting educational and bonafide certificates through the gang’s kingpin Tousif.
Tousif was a coordinator of Moghal College in Mehdipatnam. He used to collect extra money for verification of the certificates. The DCP said the case would be transferred to Central Crime Station (CCS) for further investigation.
He asked students who purchased these certificates to hand them over to CCS. “Action will be initiated against those who failed to surrender the certificates”, he added.
