Dr. Ghazi back home after participation in meetings of CPA partners in Washington

Khartoum, June 28(SUNA)- Presidential Adviser Dr. Ghazi Salah-Eddin returned home Saturday from Washington after participation in US-sponsored negotiating sittings for the parties to the Naivash Agreement. Upon arrival at Khartoum Air Port, Dr. Salah-Eddin said the visit came as response to recent speech of President Obama in which he expressed desire to hold dialogue with Muslim World and to the US intent to open new page in its relations with Sudan which was expressed by US Envoy Scott Gration during his visit to Sudan.. He added that the visit was new push and support to implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement. He stated that international organizations, countries witnessed the signing of the peace agreement and IGAD attended the conference which was held under the theme "supporters of CPA". He further added that the conference renewed political and financial support to implementation of the peace agreement , stressing that the conference did not setup any new mechanisms or new agreements but encouraged the two parties to CPA to work together for executing the agreement. Dr. Salah -Eddin pointed out that the delegations of the government and the Sudan People's Liberation Movement(SPLM) held meeting at the sideline of the conference in presence of the US Envoy Gration whose task was confined to narrow differences over the propounded issues, explaining that some outstanding issues such as Abyei, census results and elections were discussed during the conference. He added the time set for discussion was not enough and there are some issues were not discussed, disclosing that discussions will be resumed next month in Khartoum so as to reach agreement on some unresolved issues. "The talks could reach good outcome if the other party expressed the spirit of optimism instead of depicting bleak image' Salah-Eddin stated On meeting with American officials, the Presidential adviser said the Sudanese delegation held meetings with a number of American officials from White House, Pentagon and United States Agency for International Development USAID and demanded them to lift sanctions imposed by former US administration on Sudan. He affirmed that the stance of the present US administration towards Sudan differs from the former , saying it is for the first time an US official concedes that what is running in Sudan is not genocide. President Al-Bashir Interviewed by Sudan TV on occasion of 20th Anniversary of Salvation Revolution

Khartoum, June 27 (SUNA)- President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, affirmed that Sudan is qualified to achieve a unique agricultural development and to be the food basket for the Arab and African countries depending the vast potentialities that it is enjoying such as water, fertile lands and low price electricity power. President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, pointed out that the National Salvation Revolution was erupted to rescue the nation from the economic and military collapse. Interviewed by Sudan TV Saturday at the Republican Palace, said that the situation of the country has necessitate launching of the Salvation Revolution and realizing several accomplishments and meet the aspirations of the Sudanese people. He said that the situation in Sudan before advent of the National Salvation Revolution was characterized by scarcity in the basic commodities and domination of the black market, besides the longstanding problem of the war., which was the biggest problem in the country. President Al-Bashir pointed out that the economic situation was deteriorating according to a report of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the year 1989, a matter which necessitated rescuing the country and realizing political stability. President Al-Bashir said that the realization of peace was the first file which was tackled by the National Salvation Revolution, adding that the strategic choice was then the national unity, the unity of rank and solving the problems that have been affecting the nation. He affirmed that Sudan is now qualified to a remarkable shift, which is represented in the air industry. President Al-Bashir the Agricultural Development is being launched in partnership with China and benefiting from the experiences of sister countries. He stressed that the government is keen to work for the permanence of peace, adding that there will be no return for war. President Al-Bashir through strong will peace and the national unity can be protected. He referred to a number of issues that will be solved in the coming stage such as the issues of Abyei, the border demarcation, the Referendum Act and the National Security Act. He said that the result of the fifth population census has refuted the allegations on ethnic cleansing in Darfur and proved the population increase in Darfur, compared to other regions in the country. On elections in Darfur, President Al-Bashir said that the government is convinced that the elections will be held in all Darfur region after it be completely secured, underlining that the coming elections will be free and fair. He welcomed the reconciliatory message of the new US administration, describing it as a step for new American relations with Muslim World. President Al-Bashir pointed out that the coming stage will be one for building a united and developed Sudanese nation according to the 25-year strategic plan through which Sudan will surpass all its problems and provide all requirements of decent life for all its citizens AS/MO

Sudan National TV to Broadcast Interview with President Al-Bashir on Saturday

Khartoum, June 26 (SUNA) - Sudan National Television will hold Saturday during 08:00- 10:00 p.m. a dialogue with the President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir. Through the interview, the President of the Republic will review a number of national issues, the government process and the visions for the programmes and plans of the national unity government in the coming stage. President Al-Bashir to attend opening sitting of meeting of National Council for Health Services

Khartoum, June 27 (SUNA) - President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, will attend Sunday at Khartoum Teaching Hospital the opening sitting of the meetings of the National Coordination Council for Health Services after its reformation according with the decision of the Council of Ministers (41) under the chairwomanship of the federal Minister of Health, Dr. Thabita Boutros and membership of a number of ministers and specialists. In a statement to SUNA, Deputy Chairman of the preparatory technical committee for the meeting and Director of the Therapeutic Administration at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Hassan Abdul-Aziz, said that the meeting will be held in the form a workshop that will discuss working papers on a number of issues, including the health policies, health utilities, manpower, funding and medical supplies. He said that the meeting will review these working papers and submit its recommendations to the National Coordination Council for Health Services so as to be formulated in the shape of urgent emergency plans. UNAMID Spokesman Casts Light on Intensive Political Work taking place for Reaching Comprehensive Peace in Darfur

Khartoum, June 26 (SUNA) - The spokesman of the joint UN and African Union Mission (UNAMID), Nur-Eddin Al-Mazini, pointed out the joint UN and African Union mediator, Djibril Bassole, and the chairman of the joint mission, Rodolphe Adada, along with the committee of Africa wise leaders are engaged in a serious work to create appropriate and dynamic atmosphere for achieving comprehensive peace in Darfur. Interviewed by Sudan News Agency (SUNA), Al-Mazini affirmed the credibility and neutrality of the joint UN - African mission in doing its work and its continuous efforts to urge all parties to reconcile and to get involved in the peace process. He asserted the importance of the Doha peace forum, and described it as indispensable for conducting dialogue and negotiations, on ground that the military confrontation will further increase the suffering of Darfur people. He said that Rodolphe Adada aims to carry out meetings with some of armed movements toward encouraging them to join the dialogue and negotiation process. Al-Mazini stressed that there will be no progress in the political process without cessation of hostilities by all parties. He referred to a plan of the joint mission to meet in the coming period with the movement of Abdul-Wahid Mohamed Nour. He referred to meetings being held by the committee of African wise leaders with the civil society organizations, the displaced people and the leaders of the native administration, women and youth within the context of the political work to push ahead the peace process and to submit recommendations to the African Union in next July. Al-Mazini announced that the tripartite mechanism of the African Union, the United Nations and Sudan government would meet in Khartoum on July 12 to review issues pertinent to the logistic support, re-deployment and finding practical solutions for difficulties facing the joint mission. He said that a UNAMID radio would be launched in the coming period toward boosting the peace process and mutual confidence among the entire Darfuri society spectrum. He hoped that the deployment of the UNAMID forces would reach 92% by the end of the current year 2009. AL-Mazini indicated that the number of the UNAMID forces on the ground in Darfur is 13,455 soldiers and 1996 policemen, in addition to a civil component of 1016 persons, 327 UN volunteers and 2217 Sudanese employees. Meanwhile, Al-Mazini said that the joint mission's role is not confined to the military work only, but includes also establishment of useful projects for the Darfuri society, such as schools and hospitals as well as encouraging the voluntary return of the displaced people to their home areas and villages. He referred to the UNAMID description of the current dispute situation in Darfur as decreased, but not yet reached the level of complete stability, referring to increase in the cases of robbery against the civilians and elements of UNAMID. He said that the UNAMID is cooperating with the government and some movements to halt combat the robbery phenomenon in Darfur. MO/MO

Abel Aleir Praises Success of Briefing Conference on Elections

Khartoum, June 19 (SUNA) - Chairman of the National Elections Commission, Abel Aleir, has praised the conference for briefing of the elections' higher committees and the senior official in the states which concluded sessions Wednesday. He said in a statement to SNUA that the conference was successful, adding that there was full attendance. Alair pointed out that the conference formed a committee to consider the recommendations forwarded at the conclusion its works, asserting that the commission would assess those recommendations and it would pick up those which conform with the commission's supreme goals. He explained that the United Nations and a number of donors supported the holding of the conference within the context of the assistance extended for the next elections. Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the National Elections Commission said that the outcome of the conference is a real addition, lauding the distinguished and full attendance, adding that the member of the conference exchange views during the conference and the working papers which presented to the conference comprise all that concerned the elections process. He affirmed that the donors got acquainted with the impediments forwarded by the committees' members. Preparations for Launching Agricultural Season in Nahral-Neil and Northern States Reviewed

Khartoum, June 19 (SUNA)- The Minister of Finance, Dr. Awad Ahmed Al-Jaz, has discussed the preparations to launch the coming summer agricultural season in Nahral-Neil and the Northern States, ways to expand the cultivated area in the two states and utilization of the water provided by Merowe Dam in irrigation and increasing the agricultural productivity. This came at a plenary meeting he held in the presence of the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Abdul-Halim Ismail Al-Muaafi. Dr. Al-Jaz called for working out a comprehensive technical study on the situation of the agricultural schemes in Nahral-Neil and the Northern States. MO/MO

Khartoum State's Council of Ministers Approves Establishment of Development Projects at Cost of 431 Million Pounds

Khartoum, June 19 (SUNA)- The Council of Ministers of Khartoum State, headed by the state's Wali (governor), Dr. Abdul-Rahman Al-Khidir, has decided continuing establishment of development of projects in the state at the cost of 431 million Sudanese pounds. In a meeting it held lately, the state's Council of Ministers called on the ministries and localities to deliver as soon as possible their proposals on new projects prior to their approval and implementation. The state's Council of Ministers, meanwhile, approved a report on the performance of Khartoum Locality for the year 2008 and another report on the locality's plan for the year 2009. MO/MO

Speaker of South Sudan Assembly Visits Kadugli to attend Opening Sitting of National Congress Conference

Kadugli, June 19 (SUNA) - The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of South Sudan, James Wani, Friday arrived in Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan, to take part at the opening sitting of the Shura Conference of the National Conference in the state. Wani was received at Kadugli airport by the Wali (governor) of South Kordofan State, Ahmed Mohamed Haroun, and a number of the state's officials, leaderships of Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) and members of the National Congress in the state. James Wani would address a mass rally at Al-Hurriya Square in Kadugli and meet with leaderships of the SPLM in the state. Meanwhile, Chairman of the Information and Culture Committee at the Legislative Assembly of South Kordofan State, Musa Abdul-Bagi Abu-Nakhal, described the visit of James Wani as a unique one and supporting to the partnership between the National Congress and Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM). Agreement on Cooperation in Youth and Sports Signed by Sudan and Somalia

Khartoum, June 19 (SUNA) - An agreement on cooperation in the youth and sport field was signed Thursday in Khartoum by Sudan and Somalia. The agreement was signed by the State Minister at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Mohamed Abu-Zaid, for Sudan and the visiting Somali Minister of Youth and Sports, Suleiman Alad. The signing ceremony was attended by the State Minister at the Council of Ministers, Kamal Abdul-Latif, and the State Minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Al-Samani Al-Wasila. The agreement deals with the exchange of youths and sports' visits, holding work camps, and consolidating the relations between the Sudanese and Somali sports associations. The agreement also deals with the exchange of studies, experiences and research, holding cultural and thought forums and the training of youths. MO/MO

Sudanese - American Talks to be Held Thursday in Washington

Khartoum, June 14 (SUNA) - Sudanese - American talks will be held Thursday in Washington co-headed by the Presidential Advisor, Dr. Ghazi Salahuddin, and the American envoy for Sudan, Scott Gration. The government delegation is due to leave on Tuesday for Washington to take part at Washington forum for support to the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA). Delegations of the National Congress and Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM) will participate at the forum which is sponsored by the United States. The Director of the American Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Nasr-Eddin Wali, said in a statement to SUNA that the government delegation, headed by Dr. Ghazi Salahuddin, would meet with a number of officials in the US administration and give lectures at a number of American research centres. Government Sugar Factories Produce 356,000 Tons in current Season

Khartoum, June 14 (SUNA)- The Minister of Industry, Jalal Yousif Al-Degair, said that the sugar producticity of New Halfa, Genain, Assalaya, and Sennar Factories in the season 2008 - 2009 was a high one as it reached 356,000 tons. He said that the production of the sugar factoried in the past season was 342,000 tons. The minister said that the Ethanol Factory of Kenana will begin production in the next year. He indicated that the total sugar cane- cultivated area in the season 2008 - 2009 was 88,506 feddans, compared to 86,728 feddans. MO/MO

The President of Philippine appreciated the level of the cooperation between Sudan and Philippine and the stand of Sudan in support of her country at the international and regional forums. The ambassador briefed the President of Philippine on the situation in Sudan, especially with regard to the implementation of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), Darfur issue and the issue of the International Criminal Court (ICC). Information Minister Affirms his Ministry Concern with Informatics Revolution

Khartoum, June 14 (SUNA) - The Minister of Information and Communication has affirmed his ministry's keenness with the informatics revolution and the National Information Centre, calling for an electronic government of realistic vision. He reminded with the importance the cooperation between the Ministry of Information and the states concerning network linkage. The Director of the National Information Centre, Mubark Mohamed Ahmed, reviewed the vision on the electronic government, indicating that it was submitted to the Council of Ministers. He explained that the electronic government message is to realize sustainable development, providing a favourable investment atmosphere and capacity building. He referred to the existence of technical committee for follow-up and mapping out policies, plans and programmes in the context of the electronic government. BH/MO

President Al-Bashir to Visit Abu-Hamad Locality on Wednesday

Atbara, June 14 (SUNA)- The Wali (governor) of Nahral-Neil State, Prof. Ahmed Magzoub, announced at the regular meeting of the Council of Ministers of the state Sunday that the President of the Republic, Field Marshal Omer Al-Bashir, will visit on Wednesday Abu-Hamad Locality to inaugurate Al-Fidaa water project and to address a mass rally at Eastern Al-Kehaila area. The state's cabinet also reviewed implementation of the integrated programme of the horticultural, export crops, tourism, building materials and industry. The cabinet has reviewed reports of the government local government sector and implementation of the plan of the Higher Youth and Sports Council. MO/MO
